Closed cell polyurethane foam, Precision Board or Proto Foam, is manufactured in a process that does not use the fillers and additives used in Modeling and Tooling boards. Proto Foam is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as; pattern and model making, layup tooling, thermoform tooling, sign making, industrial design, and sculpture. Proto Foam can be cut with wood or metal working tools. It is very easy to machine, non-toxic, grain free, and freeze/thaw stable. It has a low CTE, is not affected by most common solvents, and does not outgas.
Proto Foam comes in standard sheet sizes of 4’ x 8’ or 2’ x 8’. Stock densities are 6, 10, 15, 20, 30lb/ft². 6-15lb densities are ideal for hand sculpting or applications that require low weight. 15 lb and up are best for applications that require high surface detail or more durability. A very wide variety of densities from 4 lb/ft² up to 75 lb/ft² are available by special order.
Proto Foam is also available by special order in sizes from ½” up to 24” thick. Sheet sizes range from 20” x 60” up to 5’ x 10’. Custom glue up services of rough shape blocks is also available. Please contact us for lead time and availability on special orders.
